Pervasive Lonesome
A couple of years ago I worked on a photography series in Baghdad's Al-Mutanabbi Street during the pandemic. The once busy lively streets were left ghostly.
Decorated with individuals making an honest living in their solitude during unprecedented times. These images were ones within hundreds of photos taken as process work in a project that took different directions.
We may never see these sights again. The streets of Al-Mutanabbi have since been revamped, and are once again packed with crowds. Yet these photographs carry the nostalgia of what seems to be, an almost forgotten era.
